President Serzh Sargsyan issued a statement at the session of RPA Board. In his statement the president criticized Gagik Tsarukyan, the Chairman of the Prosperous Armenia Party.
President Sargsyan said that the session will be devoted to the domestic issues and the developments in the political field. The President said that RPA will conduct subsequent steps in those directions.
Serzh Sargsyan mentioned that RPA strives to establish a healthy political culture rather than a theater of absurd.
The President emphasized that RPA was a political institute and constantly considered political issues and possibilities for the development and was always consistent towards the initiatives, statements or speeches circulated by the Parity and considered them as political phenomena.
Further, the President spoke about Tsarukyan’s speeches made in different instances and meetings abroad. Serzh Sargsyan characterized the PAP leader as a political actor and “evil for the country.”
The President emphasized that it was time to correct the errors, and introduced the steps he would undertake:
1. Today, with my order, Gagik Tsarukyan will be released from membership of the National Security Council of the Republic of Armenia. The highest security body of the country is not a theater where one can attend on ones whim.
2. In 2013-2014, Gagik Tsarukyan participated in only four of the 145 parliamentary sessions of the NA. If he disregards his voters to such extent, as well as the role of the National Assembly – we do not have such right; we are responsible for the rights of every citizen of the Republic of Armenia. Starting tomorrow, the Members of Parliament will take the necessary steps to put an end to such an absurd situation.
3. Over the years, the unverified rumors about unpaid taxes of billions of drams have been left unchecked; billions that were stolen from the pensions of elderly and education for the youth were masked under the pretext of “philanthropy.” I urge the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, to assign appropriate authorities to examine completely and in detail the reality of these reports and openly present to everyone.
4. There are also a lot of unverified reports about the criminal cases that were not checked and were professionally concealed. Tomorrow, I shall invite a session of the National Security Council, where we shall have a corresponding discussion with our law enforcement authorities on how to deal with such reports.
“In conclusion I want to say that my statement is solely about political or pseudo-political phenomenon of Gagik Tsarukyan. I do not see any problems in connection with him as a citizen and businessman of the Republic of Armenia, if all such reports about the problems with the law are completely refuted,” the RA President said.
