The Right to Freedom of Assembly violated in Armenia:. Human Rights Watch

International human rights organization Human Rights Watch released its annual report (World Report 2015) on the protection of human rights worldwide. The report in separate sections also referred to the developments and situation in this sphere in Armenia, notably referring to freedom of assembly, attacks on the activists, freedom of expression, gender identity and other issues.

It is indicated that the authorities of Armenia in 2014 continue impeding realization of peaceful protests. The police had arrested around 70 activists during different protest actions and rallies, thogh tehye were released during obe day. Some of the activists were subjected to administrative penalties

The report made a reference in the context of freedom of assembly to the fact of pressure against Shant Harutyunyan and his 13 supporters and the investigation and accusation as politically motivated.

Despite the fact of a number of reforms in the sphere of military service, the activists are still concerned about other military problems, such as the medical examination of the conscripts, as well as transparency and non biasness of the investigations of non combat deaths in the army (the registered cases are qualified as accidents or suicides, while there may be some evidence of violence as well).
