“We did not go because a crisis has arisen in Lachin. We, the entire political team and those in charge are busy solving the crisis,” Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of thr Security Council said on Public TV, answering the question why the Foreign Ministry delegation refused to go to Moscow. According to him, it was the best option to coordinate the steps.
According to him, the Armenian side continues to work with its partners and hopes that the Lachin corridor will be opened as soon as possible.
“A crisis has arisen, for which Azerbaijan is responsible. Russia has the opportunity to solve the crisis, because it is authorized to do so by the 9 November statement. With this step, Azerbaijan is trying to destroy the 9 November structural design,” Grigoryan said.
According to him, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, presents public ambitions for the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. He mentioned that in history there have been many leaders moving with such narratives, and there are still such leaders today.
“I think Hitler attacked the neighboring countries with almost the same arguments, saying that historically those lands were theirs, and the 2nd World War began. Aliyev’s statements do not differ from these statements, they are completely similar. In this regard, the international community has a lot of work to do,” Armen Grigoryan said.
He also noted that pressures on RA also come from the part of the union state. “The democracy of Armenia is resisting and receiving military pressures. The union state is a complete violation of sovereignty. There is no agenda to join the union state in Armenia’s agenda. The ongoing democratic processes in Armenia limit the possibility of discussing this issue.”
