On 3 March, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma for ratification a protocol amending the CSTO Peacekeeping Agreement, which defines the concept of “coordinating state” in the organization.
“The protocol defines the concept of ‘coordinating state’ and envisages the creation of a CSTO collective peacekeeping force under its auspices to be involved in UN peacekeeping operations,” the explanatory note reads.
The protocol was signed on 16 September, 2021 in Dushanbe.
