Turkey has closed checkpoints for Iranian trucks. Özcan Alaş, President of Iran and Middle East Trade Development Association, told RIA Novosti that the decision was in response to a ban on Turkish trucks entering Iran.
“Trade between Iran and Turkey has been completely suspended due to the tense situation on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border,” he said.
The Iranian authorities suspect that Azerbaijan has close military cooperation with Israel. In Tabriz, the commander of the IRGC forces (Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) said that Baku’s interaction with Israel could pose a threat to Azerbaijan’s existence.
