“Before” the war and before the end of the earthly life of a number of artists. From 10 February to 10 April, the works of the participants of the Second Artsakh War were exhibited in the Gevorgian Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. It was organized on the initiative of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the “Renaissance” cultural and intellectual foundation.
“We realized that there were many painters and sculptors who had gone to war, but unfortunately had not returned. Not everyone is dead, there are works here that are the work of participants, artists who went to war and returned,” Ms Lusine Karamyan the director of visual arts programs at the Renaissance Foundation, Coordinator of the Exhibition said.
There were many visitors, there were two groups during the filming, one of them was Gohar Kirakosyan, the mother of Hamlet Hovhannisyan, who did not return from the war. Her son loved painting since he was a child, he had not received professional education.
“About 6 months before the war, he started painting more seriously, enrolled in distance learning classes and learned to draw at the teacher Gary Arzumanyan. He began painting peaceful nature, landscapes, and church,” the mother of the killed soldier said.
The last painting was left unfinished, there was still work to be done, and the details were waiting for the author. Hamlet was in the military, he had gone to the positions on alarm, but even in the phone calls that lasted for a few minutes he remembered the paintings.
The exhibition preserved the places of the works that could have been there, but did not exist.
