The Food Safety Inspectorate informs that today, at 8:00 am, the FSI Armavir Regional Center received a call that citizens suspected of food poisoning had been taken to Armavir Medical Center. As a result of the measures taken, it turned out that, according to preliminary data, the people taken to the hospital were poisoned by home-made vodka. Some citizens’ lives were not saved.
As a result of the measures taken by the Armavir Department of the RA Police, the Armavir Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee, the alleged vodka producer was found and arrested. At the moment, a consignment of unsold alcohol has been confiscated, and steps are being taken to find and confiscate the consignments obtained by the citizens.
According to the initial version, the symptoms of poisoning are methyl alcohol poisoning. The inspectors of the Armavir Regional Center of FSI were joined by specialists from the Yerevan Center, who were provided with samples from the confiscated batch of vodka for laboratory examination. Additional information on the results will be provided.
FSI once again calls on citizens to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages of unknown origin, reminds that the circulation of beverages of unknown origin is prohibited.
The Health Ministry informs that at the moment, according to preliminary data, there are 11 deaths form “alcohol intoxication”.
