Arthur Davtyan submitted a Motion to deprive Gagik Tsarukyan of Liberty

Today, on 16 June, the petition submitted by the Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan on giving consent to deprive the NA deputy Gagik Kolya Tsarukyan of his liberty was discussed in the National Assembly.

In his speech, Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan noted that Gagik Tsarukyan, being the leader of the “Tsarukyan” bloc of parties and the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party included in it, during the parliamentary elections on 2 April, 2017, in order to vote in favor of the candidates included in the voting lists; in order to give bribes to voters, created and led during the pre-election period an organized group which included members of the “Tsarukyan Party” bloc, employees of the Central and Territorial Bodies of the “Prosperous Armenia” Party, and other persons.

In order to ensure the systematic and effective operation of the organized group, a system of control over the management of financial resources and the activities of the members of the organized group were set up, reports were prepared reflecting the funds provided, the expenses to be incurred or incurred, and the voter bribe lists indicating the name surnames, passport data, number of family members and the amount provided accordingly – 10,000 AMD for each person,” the Prosecutor General said.

It should be noted that Gagik Tsarukyan was deprived of his parliamentary immunity as a result of the deputies’ voting.
