Public Discussion in the Ministry of Justice of the RA

 

According to the information from the Ministry of Justice, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations attended the discussion.

 

Mr. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the RA thanked the participants for attending the discussion and hoped that really constructive suggestions and recommendations shall be made to improve the national strategic program. “Although we continue our work to bring the program to the final shape, yet your suggestions and recommendations will be of great help to make this document final,” Yeghishe Kirakosyan said.

 

Narine Solomonyan, Head of the International Relations Division of MOJ of the RA also noted the shortcomings.

 

“Of course there are shortcomings because some rights are not included in the program. However they will be included there during the refinement. We shall appreciate suggestion and recommendations you made. As a result the program will gain and it will have less vulnerable aspects,” Ms Solomonyan said.

 

Aram Vardevanyan, representative of the RA Ombudsman’s Office passed the greetings of Mr. Karen Andreasyan, the Ombudsman of the RA, and noted that the Strategy and the program of the events that shall issue form it are one of the most important documents of the human rights sphere. “If this National Strategy fails to meet all most important problems, then its approval shall not be justified,” he said.  Mr. Vardevanyan applied to all interested parties urging to be as constant as possible and to contribute to the improvement of the document.

 

The NGO representatives introduced their considerations on the events that refer to the right to life, the right to healthcare, the children’s’ right, the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion that were included in the draft.

 

Representatives of the participant structures shall introduce their written suggestions and recommendations to the Ministry of Justice by 4 March.

 

Mr. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Deputy Minister of Justice of the RA, said that another working meeting of interested parties on better organization of the work on the draft program may be organized.

 

Representatives of the non-governmental organizations “Collaboration for Democracy,” “Future is Yours,” “All-Armenian Lawyers Conference”, “Civil Society Development Center,” “Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office,” Yerevan Anti-Corruption Center operated by the AYLA, as well as from the staff of the RA Ombudsman’s Office, European Council, European Union Advisory Group to the Republic of Armenia, and representatives of the Anti-Corruption Center of Transparency International.
