Nikol Pashinyan’s Negotiations with other Parliamentary Factions are over

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has just come out of the negotiations with the MPs of the RPA, ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Tsarukyan factions in the National Assembly.

Notably earlier a rally-protest demonstration was launched against the law passed by the National Assembly  just minutes before that.

Nikol Pashinyan announced: “Our position is that the elections should take place in December.”

According to him, there is no other way than to do it in early December. It’s the only way to do it quickly. And that during his four-months as a Prime Minister, he has heard many times when the extraordinary elections would be held. “Holding extraordinary elections is a pan-national, nation-wide demand. And those political forces who oppose that requirement simply declare war against the people,” he said.

To the question of journalists, whether they reached a common denominator, he answered: “We cannot say that we have reached, and we cannot say that we have not either.”

According to him, the other NA factions have spoken verbally that they are not going to nominate a candidate for the prime minister in this situation.

Pashinyan also mentioned that contacts with these political forces will continue.

At the same time, there are discussions over the extraordinary elections and the current situation with the high ranking officials of a number of states arriving in Armenia at the Francophone Conference.
