The RA Minister of Justice met with the Representatives of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project

The Armenian Lawyers’ Association and its partner organizations will provide sub-grants for a total sum of 870 thousand Euros in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project funded by the EU in the upcoming three years.

Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project Manager said at the meeting with the RA Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan. He said that grants would be provided to the organizations in the capital city as well as in the RA marzes, which will pass corresponding training.

“Basically we, in cooperation with you and other actors have to raise the sectoral problems and try to solve them,” Mr. Zadoyan said.

Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan touched upon the activities of the civil society and particularly highlighted good practice in the fight against corruption. “Within the scope of the fight against corruption the efforts that are made by the various representatives of the civil society are especially tangible,” she said.

Notably, prior to this project, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association has implemented the “”Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project.

Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan hoped that the Ministry of Justice would establish effective cooperation through the new EU supported program. “We advance and look forward in the same direction, and I have to note the new successful format of cooperation and further steps,” the Minister stressed.

Mr. Suren Krmoyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice; Mr. Hakob Avagyan, President of SME Cooperation Association; Mr. Aleksander Shagafyan, the President of Armenian Center for Democratic Education (CIVITAS); Mr. Vahram Vardanyan, representing the Union of Communities of Armenia; and representatives of the managerial staff of the ALA were present at the meeting as well.

The parties discussed a number of issues for cooperation in the scope of the program. Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan stressed that the Justice Ministry will support to the implementation of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project and expressed confidence that would be another successful of Government – Civil Society partnership program.

ALA and partner organizations: “AGORA CE” NGO (Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education (CIVITAS), International Center for Human Development Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association, and Union of Communities of Armenia shall implement the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project with the financial support of the European Union.
