Mass media spread information about the fact that Armine Arakelyan, President of the Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IDHR) was subjected to torture and other forms of ill-treatment at the “Nubarashen” Mental Center. Armine Arakelyan has stated about this in different public sources as well, the RA Human Rights Defender’s Office informs.
Based on the detailed study of these publications, the RA Human Rights Defender initiated a procedure of consideration of this issue.
During this process, the Human Rights defender applied to the RA Prosecutor General with request to discuss the issue of initiating proceedings in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure as soon as possible.
In this regard, a corresponding letter was sent to the Minister of Health wit request to provide clarifications as well.
