The RA NA has already received the resignation letter of the RA Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan. We learn this from the Facebook page of the Head of NA Public Relations department Arsen Babayan.
“I recall that pursuant to Article 6 Part 3 of the RA Law on the Human Rights Defender, the Defender reiterates resignation no later than 10 days, since he/she submits a letter of resignation to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. In case of existence of bases, the President of National Assembly informs the deputies about the early termination of Defender’s powers.” Mr. Babyan wrote in his post.
Mr. Babayan informs that the in case of termination of the Defender’s powers, new elections should be called within a month from the date when the post remains vacant.
Notabley, pursuant to Article 3 of the RA law on Human Rights Defender, “The Defender shall be elected by the National Assembly by the votes of more than 3/5 of the total number of deputies from candidates for a term of 6 years, nominated by at least 1/5 of the National Assembly deputies.
