Narek Gevorgyan, being wounded, rescued 11 wounded soldiers: he cried, guys save yourselves

“My wife saw a saint in a dream who told her you would have a son and you will name him Narek” Roman Gevorgyan, the father of Narek Gevorgyan, who died in the Artsakh war says.

Narek was drafted into the army on 30 January, 2019, and served in Vayk. On 5 October, the ninth day of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, he was transferred to Artsakh to take part in hostilities.

“He was in Mekhakavan, everyone loved him, both the soldiers and the commanders. The commander said that he used to call him constantly by handheld transceiver and say, ‘Commander, let’s go as soon as possible, our friends are fighting, let’s get to our brothers’ side as soon as possible’,” the father said.

The father said that when his son was already injured, he told his friends to save themselves. “Narek saved the lives of 11 people, returned to help the other friends, but did not manage to do it as he was injured by a kamikaze.”

Narek’s father found his body on 25 January, about three months after the end of the war.

By the decree of the RA President Armen Sarkissian, Narek Roman Gorgyan was posthumously awarded the Order of Combat Cross of the First Degree.

Narek Gorgyan was born on 23 August, 2000. He died on 7 October, 2020 in the battles for the homeland.
