Today, the hearing on Hayk Kyureghyan’s case ended in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts. During the next court hearing the prosecutor will make a condemnatory speech whereas the public defender Anjela Hobosyan will not make a protective speech.
The reason is that the advocate has not been acquainted with the materials of the case. Although she was involved as a defender in the case, however accused Hayk Kyureghyan did not authorize her to study all the materials and carry out his protection. Consequently, if the defender does not know the materials of the case, she cannot provide with a proper protection.
In today’s court session the documents of the case were examined, then the gun and used capsules serving as material proof were examined according to the prosecutor’s solicitation.
Then the court asked about the positions of both sides about considering the court trial completed and passing to argumentations’ stage.
Lawyer Anjela Hobosyan said that during the hearings a proper protection of the accused was not carried out, so all the activities of the court made by now were illegal. “Illegal?”- asked the presiding judge Armen Bektashyan. He also mentioned that a defender was officially involved.
It must be mentioned that Kyureghyan was also absent. A sanction was used to dismiss him from the court room for 10 hours for not respecting the court. Today, judge A. Bektashyan said that 10 hours were not over yet.
The next court session will be held on 21 July.
