Today the court session on Hayk Kyureghyan’s case was interrupted at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Communities. The reason was a citizen’s attitude towards the court. When judge Armen Bektashyan entered the court room one of the citizens, activists Vardges Gasparyan, did not stand up. The bailiffs told him to stand uo but he did not obey. The judge asked him to leave the court room, but he stayed in place. The bailiffs tried to force the citizen out, and after that he lied down on the floor. The court session was interrupted.
Finally, the activist stood up from the ground and left. The court session was continued. Hayk Kyureghyan’s defender stated that the defendant has the right to attend the court hearing, but the judge said that the defendant had been removed from the courtroom. The Public Defender stressed that his involvement in the case was not agreed with the defendant, the judge adjourned the session providing time to the defender to meet with the accused.
On 12 July 2014, the defendant had fired shots in front of the same court, when the case of Shant Harutyunyan and Friends was in process. Hayk Kyureghyan had climbed on one of the cars parked there and fired shots from a air pistol “Makarov” in the direction of the policemen.
