Information for Learners

The Republic of Armenia Law on Public Education establishes the rights of the Students.

Learners shall have equal rights and responsibilities at educational institutions. Those rights and responsibilities shall be defined by law and the statute of the educational institution.

2. A learner shall have the right to: (1) receive education compatible with the state general education criteria;

(2) choose — upon the consent of the parent — the educational institution and the form of instruction, the stream inside the educational institution concerned and receive paid educational services;

(3) have free access to educational and material base of the educational institution;

(4) participate in internal and external school events; (5) be protected from any physical and psychological pressure, exploitation, actions or inaction of pedagogical and other workers, that violate the rights of the learner and infringe upon their honour and dignity;

(6) participate in the management of the educational institution as prescribed by the statute of the educational institution;

(7) freely search for and have access to any information, except for the cases prescribed by law;

(8) freely express his or her opinion and convictions;

(9) benefit from other rights specified by law and the statute of the educational institution.

A learner shall be obliged to:

(1) comply with the requirements of the statute and internal disciplinary rules of the educational institution;

(2) receive knowledge compatible with the state general education criteria, acquire and posses of corresponding skills and abilities, satisfy the requirements for the established system of values;

(3) attend and participate in classes;

(4) perform other duties specified by law and the statute of the educational institution.
