European Court of Human Rights ruled three verdicts against Armenia. As a result the government has to pay 70 thousand Euros for compensation. Justice Minister Hovhannes Manukyan talked about this during the briefing with journalists and mentioned that although these verdicts were matters for concern, they shouldn’t adopt severe expressions. “We cannot propose mechanisms that are not applicable in civilized countries. We cannot propose taking judges’ property, and as a consequence no judge will be willing to work in that system. No matter how bad the judicial system is, it is essential for the state”, added Mr. Manukyan. As a mechanism to the solution, the minister suggested that judicial system should be taken to the level where the blunders are very few. Even in the perfect judicial system mistakes are common, but we must eliminate mistakes by increasing productivity.
