The Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia received a report from the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic Armenia lodged by the attorney of the defendant to the criminal case reviewed in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Malatia-Sebastia Administrative district which stipulated the excess of employment-related powers with the use of violence by a number of officials.
The attorney particularly reported that his defendant Davit H. on February 7, 2014 took a pack of cigarette from the bookmaker’s office located in Yerevan. Being unaware of its content, he took a casual taxi which was then stopped by the police employees of the Republic of Armenia. Thereafter, the police employees took him out of the car and struck different parts of his body, and took him to the police department where they took the drugs out of the pack of cigarettes. In the police department he was violently forced to give confessionary statements and a testimony about his awareness of the presence of the drugs in the pack of cigarettes and a number of crimes uncommitted by him.
A criminal case has been launched in the Special Investigations Service of the Republic of Armenia with regard to the case of the excess of employment-related powers with the use violence in accordance with Part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
A preliminary investigation is underway.
