Prosecutor’s Office Refuses Claim Worth Around 352 Million in Vahagn Vermishyan Case

The Anti-Corruption Civil Court held a session regarding the case of confiscation of allegedly illegally obtained property belonging to Vahagn Vermishyan, former head of the Urban Development Committee and former chief architect of Stepanavan city. The session is presided over by Judge Karapet Badalyan.

According to Iravaban.net, at the previous session, Vahagn Vermishyan’s representatives had submitted a motion to the court to terminate the civil proceedings.

Taking a position on this motion, prosecutor Naira Artashesyan from the General Prosecutor’s Office Department for Confiscation of Illegally Obtained Property said that she does not insist on the motion to change the basis and subject of the claim, and refuses the submitted lawsuit.

“Let me clarify that Article 20, Part 2 of the Law ‘On Confiscation of Illegally Obtained Property’ refers to the legal regulation of refusing claims, according to which claims can be refused by the person who submitted them, or by the coordinating deputy of the Prosecutor General, or by the Prosecutor General. Therefore, since I, as a representative of the competent body, have submitted this lawsuit, I have the authority under the law to refuse the lawsuit as well.”

At this session, the respondent’s representatives also requested to discuss the issue of reimbursement for reasonable attorney fees, regarding which the plaintiff’s representative said that they need to study the calculation files, after which they will discuss this issue.

The court scheduled the next session for May 29.
