Zina Avanesyan was forcibly displaced from Artsakh in 2023. She cannot tell her story without tears, both about what happened before the war and after it.
“For many years, I worked very hard. I was saying in the store that everything became empty due to the ‘blockade.’ Children came crying, asking for bread, but there was no bread. How many terrible things I have seen. At dawn, in the dark, when there were no cars, we would go to the bread store to distribute bread. People were fighting over why there was so little. In the end, I left, handed over the money, took nothing, and came back,” she recounts.
She says she has no home, which is the most serious problem at this moment: “I have moved three times. First, they took me to Gyumri. I couldn’t adapt to Gyumri’s air; I have all kinds of illnesses. I have gone through many difficulties; I have suffered a lot. There have been all sorts of problems,” says Mrs. Zina.
