On 2 February, Yervand Khundkaryan, the Chairman of Civil and Administrative Chamber of the Cassation Court of the RA met with the international experts Gerhard Reissner and Rupert D’Cruz, as well as the local experts Musheg Manukyan, Aram Orbelyan and Vahe yengibaryan. The meeting was conducted in the framework of the “Strengthening the Independence, Professionalism and Accountability of the Justice System in Armenia” a joint project of the European Union and Council of Europe. The meeting was aimed to discuss the mechanisms for introduction of Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms in Armenia. The International Cooperation and Public relations department of the RA Judicial Department informs.
The parties spoke about a number of conceptual issues related with the arbitration and mediation institute and stressed the importance of introduction of such institute. At the same time they emphasized the importance of establishing a clear legal basis and principles for it and also referred to some problems that exist in the Republic of Armenia in this context.
