Today the Criminal Court of Appeals under the presidency of Judge Arshak Khachatryan announced the verdict on the case of Shant Harutyunyan and Friends.
The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal on the case Shant Harutyunyan and Friends.
After the publication of the court decision the relatives of the defendants expressed their discontent and shouted in the court room.
Raffi Hovhannisyan, Chairman of “Heritage” Party, who was present at the session listened to the judgment standing with his back to the judges.
The Court of the First Instance had recognized Shant Harutyunyan guilty under Article Hooliganism. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison. Albert Margaryan was sentenced to 6 years under this article as well. Shant Harutyunyan’s Juvenile son Shahen Harutyunyan was sentenced to 4 years, but it was not applied according to Article 70 of the Criminal Code (Conditional Punishment).
Alek Poghosyan and Avetis Avetisyan were adjudged guilty according to Article 258 Part 4 of the Criminal Code and were sentenced to 4 and 5 years in prison respectively. Mkrtich Hovhannisyan was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Hayk Harutyunyan to 4,5 years and Liparit Liparityan to 5 years in prison.
Sevak Mnatsakanyan was adjudged guilty according to Article 258, Part 3, Points 1 and 2 and was sentenced to 1,5 years in prison. Tigran Petrosyan and Armen Hovhannisyan were sentenced to 1 and 2 years. Vahe Grigoryan was adjudged guilty under the requirements of Article 258, Part 4 and Article 316 Part 2 and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Vardan Vardanyan was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.
