On October 15 the regular court sitting on “Shant Harutyunyan and friends” case will take place. Shant Harutyunyan`s, Vardan Vardanyan`s and juvenile Shahen Harutyunyan`s advocate Inessa Petrosyan does not exclude the perspective of applying to the ECHR, if they do not succeed at the courts of Kentron and Nork-Marash communities, as well as in other instances.
“Especially after the announcement by the president which in essence has guided the court. There were some hopes before that the justice will apply and the court will be guided only by the details of the trial. During the trial the reasons of the actions have been revealed, the crime of hoologanism was excluded. Those people were on a peaceful procession, but the provocators came into play together with the police officers”, stated the lawyer.
On 23 September RA President Serzh Sargsyan was on a working trip to the US to take part in the 69th session of the UN General Assembly. During the visit he came up with a speech, also referring to Shant Harutyunyan. The president mentioned that his friends and him have committed a crime and should be convicted.
