During 2014 the Special Investigation Service considered 546 Criminal Cases in its Proceedings

The expanded consultation of the Special Investigation service of the RA which took place on 26 January, was dedicated to discussion of the work carried out by the service in 2014. Colonel of Justice Mushegh Babayan, Deputy Chief of the Special Investigation Service reported on the results of 2014.

He mentioned that in 2014, the investigators of the RA Special Investigation Service examined 546 criminal cases in their proceedings. Statistical analysis of the data shows that the workload of the investigators as compared with the previous two year had increased dramatically. In 2012 the investigators examined 204 criminal cases and in 2013 they examined 239 criminal cases. It is noteworthy that the number of cases examined in the proceedings in 2014 exceeds the combined number of cases of the previous two years by 103 (546 as compared with 443).

From the examined 546 criminal cases, 54 were transferred from the previous year, while 492 were admitted in the reporting year.

282 cases of the reporting year were initiated by the investigators of the special Investigation service, 158 by other bodies of criminal prosecution, the remaining were opted from other cases or were restarted.
