Advocate Ruben Jaghinyan considers the work of Investigative Committee as positive. At the same time he mentions that no significant changes have been registered in the Committee’s activities. Investigative Committee was created this year, and is headed by former Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan.
“Dependence from the Prosecution is reduced, and it is the only positive step. They try to make their work more legal. I don’t know yet to what extent they succeed in it,” Mr. Jaghinyan said. “Investigative Committee tries to be independent of the police as well. Or at least tell they have no links with them. In the beginning it was the same unit, were working together under the same shoulder strap. I have some cases in my procedure; I cannot assess negatively the Investigative Committee. They are trying to change something.”
