Based on the report of Gevorg M., the detainee of “Vanadzor” Penitentiary of the RA Ministry of Justice, a criminal case under the provisions of Part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the RA was initiated in the Special Investigation Service of the RA.
According to the information of the Special Investigation Service, the detainees report said that the police operative agent of the Criminal investigation department of Stepanavan department of the RA police had beaten and insulted him when he was arrested on the suspect of theft, and thus compelled to confess that he had committed the larceny.
Prejudicial inquiry is in process.
Note. Everyone charged with a criminal offense shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty by the court verdict lawfully entered into force as prescribed by Criminal Procedure Code.
