Glass Bird Worth 120,000 Drams, Vase Worth 109,000 Drams: Gifts Received by the Officials in 2025

Public officials continue to submit declarations to the Corruption Prevention Commission regarding gifts received during their term of office.

National Assembly “Civil Contract” faction MP Khachatur Sukiasyan received a purple glass vase from the UAE Ambassador to Armenia Nariman Al-Mulla, which he valued at 109,390 drams.

It’s noted that he received this New Year’s gift in his capacity as the head of the Armenia-UAE Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan received a blue commemorative “Glass Bird” from Finnish Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-aho during his Northern European and Baltic countries visit to Armenia from January 22-25, 2025.

The gift’s estimated value is 120,000 drams, based on the price of the same item at the Finnish Design Shop.

Arman Sargsyan, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Committee’s Operational Intelligence Department, submitted a declaration on January 9 for an incentive gift received for showing initiative at work – a “Gnomon” wristwatch made of 925 sterling silver, with “RA ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMITTEE” engraved on the back.

The gift’s estimated value is 171,997 drams, and it was received on December 24, 2024.

Iravaban.net had previously reported on gifts declared by other officials during 2024 and conducted a study on the credibility of their stated prices. More details can be found at their website.

As a reminder, new regulations regarding gift acceptance were established through amendments to the “Law on Public Service.” According to these regulations, gifts received during state and official visits, events, work visits, and business trips must be handed over to the state or community if their value exceeds 60,000 Armenian drams.
