According to “Meduza”, the list of sanctions includes 13 people: high-ranking employees of Russia’s investigation agency, penitentiary service and police, who “were involved in brutal treatment and death of the politician”.

Svetlana Petrenko, the representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, the head of the IK-3 “Polar Wolf” in Yamal, Vadim Kalinin of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Igor Rakitin, the head of the FSIN department of the region, are among those included in the special measures related to human rights violations by the Canadian Foreign Ministry.

The European Union, the United States, Great Britain and a number of other countries imposed sanctions, including against the administration of the colony where the politician was kept.
