Iranian Humanitarian Aid was sent to Alaverdi

The humanitarian aid transferred by Iran to the population affected by the floods in the Lori region of the Republic of Armenia has arrived in Armenia, which the employees of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and the Armenian Red Cross Society will deliver to Alaverdi on 7 June.

A meeting was held in the Armenian Red Cross Society with Bahram Taheri, Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Mohammad Javad Alavi, political advisor, representative of the Iranian Red Crescent and Davit Nersisyan, President of the Armenian Red Cross Society.

In his speech, Davit Nersisyan first expressed his condolences regarding the death of the President of Iran and the officials accompanying him in the helicopter accident, not long after which a terrible natural disaster occurred in Lori Marz, RA.

He considered it symbolic that the Red Crescent of Iran was one of the first to respond to the natural disaster that occurred in Armenia, as a result of which people died, expressing willingness to provide support to the victims.

“Although the occasion is tragic, it should be noted that this once again proves the close cooperation of the humanitarian mission organizations of the two neighboring countries. The Armenian Red Cross Society, remaining faithful to its principles, reaffirms the importance of bilateral cooperation and expresses hope for the inclusion of a wider range for closer relations. We are convinced that the relationship formed over the years can bring more great ideas to life for the benefit of the beneficiaries of both organizations. There are a lot of problems, disasters, wars and other dangers in the region, and that is why the joint work of the two organizations is important, because the highest value for us is the person,” Nersisyan said, expressing gratitude to his colleagues for their support in this difficult time.
