The London High Court has published the decision in the case of Julian Assange, the founder of the WikiLeaks website, regarding the protest against his extradition to the USA, reports RIA Novosti .
The London Court allowed Julian Assange to challenge the decision to extradite him to the USA again. The London Court gave the US Government 3 weeks to give guarantees that Assange’s rights will be respected in court and he will not face the death penalty.
To remind, Assange’s previous appeal was rejected on all points.
In the US, Assange is accused of 17 counts of espionage, as well as for publishing classified documents related to US operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Assange faces up to 175 years in prison. In 2021, a judge denied a request to extradite Assange to the US.
In 2022, after Washington guaranteed Assange humane treatment, the decision to extradite him was approved by the British Home Office.
