The State Duma of the Russian Federation will discuss the issue of lifting the moratorium on the death penalty after the terrorist attack in the Moscow Region, Izvestiya writes.

At the same time, the issue of lifting the moratorium may become a subject of consideration by the Constitutional Court, the court informed the news agency. However, even if Russia resumes the use of the death penalty, it will not affect the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus on 22 March.

The first step in that direction can be a discussion with experts and legislators in the Public Chamber, Alexander Spiridonov, deputy of the “United Russia” Faction of the State Duma, told Izvestiya.

The leadership of “Yedinaya Rossiya” has expressed readiness to work in the direction of studying the just punishment of terrorists. In particular, the leader of the faction, Vladimir Vasilev, has already told the journalists that the subject of establishing the death penalty for terrorism in the Russian Federation will be studied deeply and comprehensibly.
