Azerbaijan is carrying out Cultural Genocide in Occupied Artsakh at the State Level: The Cross of Vankasar was removed; it was presented as an Albanian

The Ombudsman of Armenian Culture has issued a statement.

“The cross of the church of Vankasar is missing in the photos found on the social media platforms of Azerbaijan.

This church is also represented by the state propaganda machine of Azerbaijan as a Albanian.

This fact proves once again that Azerbaijan is carrying out Cultural Genocide in occupied Artsakh at the state level.

Article 4 of the 1954 Hague Convention prohibits any act of vandalism, theft, robbery, misappropriation, enmity and retaliation against cultural heritage.

According to the first Hague Protocol of 1954, it is forbidden to destroy cultural or spiritual values in the occupied territories.

It should be reminded that by the decision of the International Court of Justice of The Hague on 7 December, 2021, chanting of the desecration of Armenian churches was prohibited. “Azerbaijan is obliged to take all necessary measures to prevent and punish the acts of vandalism and desecration that were carried out against the Armenian cultural heritage…” the statement said.
