The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov addressed the people:
“Dear Ukrainians,
The enemy began to intensively shell our eastern units, as well as military control centers and aircraft in other regions.
The Ukrainian army defends and pushes back the Russian troops.
Our military does everything to protect you, to prevent the aggressor from invading.
Today, I appeal to you once, calm down. If possible, stay home. The situation is under control, but our army needs your support now more than ever. Peace of mind and confidence will be the best help to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
We will inform about the situation immediately.
“Glory to Ukraine,” the message reads.
It should be reminded that in the early morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a statement announcing the decision to launch a special military operation in Donbas.
“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action. The Donbass People’s Republics have appealed to Russia. I have decided to launch a special military operation in this regard,” Putin said in a televised address to Russian citizens.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that from 05:00 (07:00 Yerevan time) on Thursday, the Russian Armed Forces carried out intensive attacks on Ukrainian military facilities and airports.
