Political scientist Stepan Danielyan wrote on his Facebook page:

“The situation in Idlib in northern Syria is escalating. This is a vital issue for Turkey. In fact, if Kurdish autonomy is established in Syria, as in Iraq, which is promoted by Russia and the United States, then the south of Turkey is surrounded by Kurdish autonomy and it becomes a good example for the Kurds in Turkey, as well as an opportunity to raise national self-awareness.

According to official data, 19 million Kurds live in Turkey, and unofficially, more than 25 million.”
