I have spoken with the families of the missing: Human Rights Defender

The staff of the RA Human Rights Defender spoke with the RA NSS regarding the disappearance of two residents of Kasakh community of the RA Kotayk region.

The RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook page.

“The NSS has confirmed to us that our compatriots from Kasakh deviated from the road and found themselves in a section that is currently under Azerbaijani control.

We will continue to cooperate with our NSS partners within our competence. I can assure that the NSS is currently taking active measures to return our compatriots.

I have spoken to the families of the missing myself. It is assumed from this discussion that they have deviated.

I also spoke with the head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Armenia. I informed about the problem, passed on the information we obtained and asked to keep the issue under immediate attention.

I emphasize once again. We must create guarantees for the protection and security of our rights.

Until we do that, such cases will not go away. There will always be uncertainty. I have been warning about the problems with concrete facts for almost a year now.”

It should be reminded that the National Security Service had issued a statement, which read,

“On 18 September, at around 9:00 pm, the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia received information that on the same day, two residents of Kasakh community of the Kotayk region of the Republic of Armenia (information is known) deviated from the highway and appeared on the Goris-Vorotan road in the territory under the control of Azerbaijan.

The RA National Security Service reported.

Relevant work is being carried out by the RA NSS and RF FSB border guards to find them.

The results will be announced additionally.”
