The session on the case of Armen Charchyan, the director of “Izmirlian” Medical Center, has started in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan.
It should be reminded that Charchyan was arrested on 23 June. He is accused of forcing to participate in the elections.
His representatives mediated to change the measure of restraint of the defendant during the pre-trial proceedings. Attorney Aram Vardevanyan suggested replacing the detention with bail.
Attorney Erik Aleksanyan “thanked” Judge Meliksetyan for detaining Charchyan, as the latter partially granted the motion while the prosecutor claimed that there were about 80 witnesses in the case, with whom no action had been taken yet and it is not ruled out that Charchyan may have an influence. According to the defense, all the witnesses in the case have already been interrogated and testified, therefore, Charchyan, remaining at large, cannot influence the witnesses in the case.
The Defender also informed that Charchyan’s face-to-face interrogation did not take place during the preliminary investigation; therefore, there are no persons who testified against him. Erik Aleksanyan emphasized that there are all the grounds to replace Armen Charchyan’ detention with bail.
