The Ministry of Health has issued a clarification, which reads:
“Today, one of the parents of the missing servicemen protesting in front of the government made a statement, particularly mentioning the following: “I have not seen anyone whose child was found with DNA given. Whoever they found, they buried, and the next day they found out that it was not their child.”
We declare responsibly that this statement has nothing to do with reality. There was no such case when after the funeral it turned out that the DNA result was wrong.
The device, which studies short tandem segments specific to the human genome, allows forensic identification tests to be performed by establishing blood ties and obtaining data in line with international standards.
To date, 468 bodies have been identified as a result of forensic genetic testing, which would not have been possible through other tests.
Given how sensitive the topic is, however, please do not spread misinformation, do not mislead parents who have found their sons with DNA.
Another claim was made that servicemen were “lost” from hospitals. This does not correspond to reality. The Ministry of Health works with parents directly in all individual cases with the support of law enforcement agencies.
In addition, the State Department for Missing Soldiers is the Ministry of Defense, and Scientific Practical Center of Forensic Medicine SNPO of the Ministry of Health conducts DNA tests in close cooperation with law enforcement agencies.”
