Vahram Melikyan, the Director of the information system of the Mother See wrote on his Facebook page:
“The priest, like every citizen of the Republic of Armenia, has the right to express his civic stance, to stand up for the insulted dignity of his nation. We regret that in the post-war period the messages and exhortations of the Church remained unanswered, leading to such a painful situation, deepening intolerance in society, and new divisions.
Notably, in the Sisian city pantheon, Nikol Pashinyan paid tribute to the memory of the heroes. In the Pantheon, the Prime Minister met with the relatives of several killed servicemen, after which he entered the church of the Pantheon.
The priest of the church did not shake the hand of the prime minister and showed him the way out of the church. This has caused the anger of some citizens.
