The UN calls on Baku and Yerevan to maintain the ceasefire

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called on Baku to adhere to the ceasefire and to agree on its terms as soon as possible.

During talks in Moscow on Saturday evening, Baku and Yerevan agreed on a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh from the afternoon of 10 October. The talks lasted more than 10 hours.

“The Secretary General welcomes the humanitarian agreements reached by the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan and Armenia on the ceasefire regime announced in Moscow yesterday. He expressed his gratitude to the Russian Federation for its mediation efforts,” Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General said.

“The Secretary-General urges the ceasefire to be maintained and an agreement reached on the specific parameters of the ceasefire as soon as possible,” he said.
