About 200 Liters of Home-Made Vodka was found in the Detainee’s house: Police

On the night of 31 August, the Armavir Police Department received a report from the Armavir Medical Center that four residents of the city of Armavir had been taken to the emergency help department with a diagnosis of “alcohol intoxication”, two of whom died and two were in the intensive care unit.

Already on the night of 1 September, the Armavir Police Department received reports about the hospitalization of poisoned citizens from various medical centers in the capital. According to preliminary data, about a dozen people have died, there are hospitalized.

As a result of the operative measures of Armavir criminal investigators, information was received that they had been poisoned by drinking vodka of unknown origin, bought from 50-year-old Ashot Hovsepyan, a resident of Armavir. He was found, taken to the Armavir police department, and then presented to the body conducting the preliminary investigation of the case. Ashot Hovsepyan was arrested on suspicion of selling goods that did not meet safety requirements.

As a result of operative-investigative measures taken within the framework of the initiated criminal case, about 200 liters of home-made vodka was found in the house of the detainee. Necessary measures are taken to find the persons who bought the vodka, as well as to remove the dangerous product from circulation completely. We urge all citizens who have bought alcohol from the above-mentioned person not to use it and to apply to law enforcement agencies.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
