Health Minister Arsen Torosyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri. They discussed the situation around the new coronavirus and ongoing work to prevent the spread of the virus.

Arsen Torosyan first congratulated the Ambassador on assuming the post, and then proceeded to the main topic of the meeting. The Minister presented what actions are being implemented in Armenia.

The ambassador thanked for the meeting and presented the experience gained by Iran in the fight against the new coronavirus within two weeks. According to the ambassador, a large medical team has been formed in Iran, whose main function is to prevent the spread of the virus, and the “hotline” operates 24 hours a day.

Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri presented the fresh data according to which 7280 citizens applied to the hospital after entering the new coronavirus in Iran, 4312 of which were tested. By the afternoon of 2 March, 1501 cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed in Iran and 291 have recovered. 66 deaths were recorded.

“Our country’s experience has shown that prevention actions should be strengthened rather than cured, and this is important for Armenia unless the problem has not deepened,” Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri  said.

The dissemination of false information about the new coronavirus and the importance of providing accurate information were also discussed. The Minister stressed that the verified information is important in the fight against panic moods.

Arsen Torosyan and Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri agreed to establish direct contact with the Iranian Minister of Health.

“I hope that in the near future everything will be settled and life will continue in a normal way,” the minister said.

Arsen Torosyan expressed readiness to be useful to Iran professionally, while the ambassador in his turn wished health to the patient infected with coronavirus health in Armenia and expressed hope that it would be the only and the last case.
