Yerevan court of general jurisdiction sentenced Ara Vardanyan’s (Chvvv Aro) son Sargis Vardanyan to six years and six months in prison. Vardanyan’s lawyer, Lernik Hovhannisyan, informed Iravaban.net about it today, January 29.
Sargis Vardanyan was found guilty under Article 242 (3) of the RA Criminal Code. Vardanyan is not inclined to appeal to the Court of Appeal.
“He finally pleaded guilty and compensated for the damage,” Hovhannisyan said.
The presiding judge was Harutyun Manukyan.
Sargis Vardanyan has been charged in connection with the fact that on 8 January 2018, at 4:40 a.m. had driven the BMW car, without a driver’s license, traveling with two passengers on Abovyan Street, with turned on lights through Abovyan street from Moskovyan Street to Sayat-Nova Avenue.
Exceeding the allowed speed by 60 km/h (113 km h) he created an emergency situation, which resulted in a collision with a Toyota car driven by Senior Lieutenant Areg Davtyan, then an advertising panel, after which he left the scene. The accident resulted in the death of Toyota driver Areg Davtyan and passenger Khachik Gasparyan were killed by negligence.
