Today, on 6 April 6, the official ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation was held by the structures representing business interests. By signing the Memorandum, the SME Cooperation Council, which ensures dialogue between the National Assembly and SMEs, was established.
Thus, NGOs representing business interests come to an agreement to establish a new platform for the state – private sector dialogue aimed at strengthening the link between MPs and SMEs operating in Armenia to address their legislative problems.
“We are trying to strengthen our legislative body because we all know that there is a distorted image. By examining the analyzes, we understand that 7 of the legislative initiatives from the overall 10 are drafts presented by the executive body and they cannot be objective, just they are the implementers of these rules and laws,” Mr. Hakob Avagyan, Executive Director of SME Cooperation Association said.
At present, 11 structures have joined the memorandum.
They are:
- SME Cooperation Association,
- Union of Information Technology Enterprises,
- Association of Freight Forwarders (AAF) Union of Legal Entities,
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Shirak Marz,
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Gegharkunik Marz,
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lori Marz,
- Armenian Young Women’s Association,
- Agricultural Alliance of Armenia,
- The Armenian-British Business Chamber,
- European Business Association,
- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vayots Dzor Marz.
“With the signing of the Memorandum, we hope to solve the problems of small and medium-sized enterprises, so that their voice will be accessible to state institutions, when discussing laws, making changes and adopting new laws. In my opinion, after the establishment of this institution, SMEs will have a greater chance of raising their concerns and discussing at the state level,” Ms Naira Manukyan, Executive Director of the Armenian-British Business Chamber said.
