Police systematically deprives Citizens from Access to Legal Aid: ELA

Since 17 July 2016, the police bring civilians to police stations from various places of the republic without any reason. Then they are told that were detained on suspicion of possessing weapons and ammunition. According to many citizens, they are subjected to ill-treatment at police stations.

At the same time the police systematically deprive the citizens from access to legal aid.

Thus, on July 17, Hasmik Evoyan who was brought to the Bazum police department of Vanadzor was not allowed to meet with lawyers Arayik Zalyan and Ani Chatinyan.

On Ju;y 17 the citizens who were brought to police station could not meet with the advocates Ara karagyozyan and Hayarpi Sargsyan.

On July 18, Advocate Ara Karagyozjan could not meet the citizens who were brought to Kentron Police Station.

On July 18, ata about 15:30, Lusine Galstyan, Varuzhan Avetisyan’s wife called Advocate Karapet Badalyan, but the police did not allow her to speak and siesed the telephone. After that Lusine Galstyan’s telephone was out of reach.
