On the night of April 16 to 17, no changes of operative situation along the line of contact between the Armed Forces of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan were recorded. The enemy continued violating with intervals the verbal agreement on the maintenance of the cease fire on contact line. The enemy used different caliber weapons in the north eastern direction (Martakert) including used 60-mm (1 shells) and 82 mm (3 shells) mortars and HAN 17 grenade launcher (10 grenades).
All together during the night the enemy violated the cease fire about 65 times.
The NKR forces remained committed to the verbal arrangement achieved between the parties and undertook retaliatory steps only in emergency cases. The Press service of NKR Defense Army reports.
The RA Defense Ministry informs that during the same period the enemy violated cease fire regime on the north eastern section of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan 5 times. The Azerbaijani side used weapons of different calibers and sniper arms towards Armenian positions. In addition the enemy used HAN 17 grenade launchers as well.
The vanguard units of the RA Army show restraint, took appropriate actions where necessity only in case of extreme necessity and confidently control the situation on border.
