Many of our citizens are interested in the issue if the parents are citizens of the Republic of Armenia and the child is born in a foreign country, whether the child acquires the RA citizenship without the parents’ desire. The Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police refereed to the resolution of the issue and mentioned that a child whose parents are citizens of the Republic of Armenia at birth, regardless of place of birth, acquires the citizenship of the Republic of Armenia.
In the case if one of the parents is a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, and the other is a foreign citizen, the citizenship of the child is determined by the written consent of the parents.
