On November 5, the young supporter of the “New Armenia” Smbat Barseghyan received calls from the police officers first trying to know his address and the place of education, then demanding him to come to the Police. “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front and “Joint Opposition Headquarters” have reported about it.
Taking advantage of his rights set in the Constitution and laws, Smbat Barseghyan gave no information about himself and refused to come to the Police on an oral request.
The reason of the special treatment of the Police towards Smbat Barseghyan is his political activity, which he has recently demonstrated in the rally of the «New Armenia» Front, held in Vanadzor, during which the police applied excessive force and violence towards him.
The “Joint Opposition Headquarters” considers these illegal actions of the police towards the young citizen a political pursuit implemented through psychological pressure, which aims at refraining the youth from the campaign and struggle of saying «NO» to the new Constitution made up by the administration.
