Today, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia continued discussion on the approval of the referendum on the constitutional amendments initiated by the President of the RA.
Vardan Poghosyan, member of the Experts Committee on Constitutional Reforms adjacent to the RA President answered the questions of the MPs.
Before asking the question, Nikol Pashinyan made some remarks and concluded that corruption prevails in the policy of the RA, “Which provision or provisions of the current Constitution allow to make this corruption process possible, and which Chapters of the Constitution you have written include provisions on its prevention?” he asked.
According to Vardan Poghosyan there is no country in the world that have a Constitution which includes provisions that exclude the phenomenon of corruption. He said, “After 25 years of establishment the statehood we do not have such a level of independence of the judiciary power, which will meet the public demands. The higher is transparency of political processes, the higher is accountability, the higher are possibilities to discuss these issues in the NA, criticize and apply sanctions, the higher are the chances to reduce, decrease and eliminate the problems that you raised.”
