Can the Women be involved in Night Work?

The RA Labor Code foresees a number of provisions which regulate the labor rights of the women. Article 148 of the Code provides the night work.

Specifically, night time shall be considered the period between 22:00 and 6:00. The work performed at night time shall be considered as night work.

Persons under the age of eighteen as well as employees who are not allowed to be employed in night work according to a medical conclusion are not allowed to be engaged in night work.

Part 4 of this article provides that pregnant women and employees taking care of a child under the age of three may be engaged in night work only upon their consent.

Where it is confirmed that the night work has harmed or may cause harm to the health of the employee, the employer shall be obliged to transfer the employee only to day work.

The awareness is realized by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association in the framework of “Influencing the Women’s Rights Agenda” Project.
